KINDERGARTEN 'WONDERLAND' implements the pre-school education syllabus approved by the Ministry of Education as well as its own program focusing on discovering not only Polish culture but also the cultures of other nations. Children attending KINDERGARTEN 'WONDERLAND' will be exposed to different cultures from Europe and from the Far East - Japan and China. Through music and art your child have the chance to encounter the colors of the Far East and the dynamics of Africa and South America.
English with English-speaking teachers
Following the tradition of Bell schools all over the world English lessons in the Kindergarten will be conducted by native speaker teachers who enjoy working with children, have relevant experience and suitable qualifications.
We believe that lessons with native speaker teachers are a great way to teach young children. Up to the age of six a child does not hear any difference between individual sounds therefore they can learn a foreign language effortlessly in a natural manner. Continuous contact with a teacher who uses only English in conversation will help stimulate your child to build their own structure of the language and help them realize and accept that the world is inhabited by people speaking many different languages.
The stimulus of introducing a foreign language into children's daily routine increases creativity and acceptance of multiple meanings in giving names to things. This process develops children's linguistic skills and not only facilitates the study of one language but also promotes multilingualism in adult life.
The English syllabus is based on generally accepted principles of foreign language methodology, pedagogy and psychology of pre-school children. Lessons are run by a combination of communicative method, for which a native speaker of English without any knowledge of Polish is especially appropriate, and TPR (Total Physical Response - a method of reacting with the whole body). The TPR method was developed by psychologist Doctor James Asher; it is modeled on the way in which young children develop their native language. The process of learning a foreign language is similar to other learning processes in young children, who discover pleasure in learning the language of their surroundings. Pre-school children are especially receptive due to their natural inquisitiveness about the world and natural eagerness to learn new things. A well-prepared friendly teacher makes it possible for children to react to his/her instructions in a way similar to the natural way the native language is learnt, additionally strengthening the message with audio, visual and tactile stimuli.
Lessons will be run in age groups and each group will spend from 30 minutes to one hour three times a week with one of our American or British teachers.
Art classes with a teacher from Great Britain
With the aim of developing creativity and intensifying language study the syllabus of the kindergarten will encorporate art classes with a British teacher. In the process of foreign language learning it is important, besides games, songs or rhymes, to devote a few minutes to craft activities which to reflect a child's emotions.
Art classes will be run by Jo, a teacher from Great Britain, who has had many years teaching experience at Program-Bell, and is also a practising artist.
Aikido classes with a coach from New York
KINDERGARTEN 'WONDERLAND' is to introduce an Akido program for young children. This martial art devoid of any aggression teaches children that when you want to create something valuable you have to act in peace and harmony with your surroundings. Aikido soothes children, teaching them to concentrate and develop a positive attitude to life. Such an attitude is then adapted in other areas of children's lives. They can do better in the kindergarten, and then later on - at school. It teaches them to be persistent and positive to life. And those are the values that we want to instill in them. Aikido classes will be conducted by a native speaker teacher, an American from New York.
Dance and drama classes
Kindergarten should above all be fun for children and a variety of exercise is one way to guarantee this. Hence our proposal of drama-dance workshops, which through their dynamics and fast tempo will not only introduce variety to the day but also improve your child's balance, coordination and movement. The dance-drama classes will be conducted by an Arts student who has worked with Zenon Laskowik, Grzegorz Tomczak and who has completed a mime course at Body Art Studio with Anna Balcerzak.
